What and why the breeds are used to be selectively breed.
The Two breeds that create the Shire horse are the draft horse and the draught horse. The draft horse is the tallest horse, used in war, has feathers, and is used to carry heavy loads, which they are known for. So when you cross the draft horse with the draught horse(a horse known for readiness, intelligence, and high jumping), you will get the combination of the two, the Shire horse! These traits from the two horses travel to the offspring to make the Shire horse have desirable traits.
How selectively Bred
Breeders take time to pick the right horses to make the perfect Shire Horses. Many processes can take weeks or even years. Breeders make sure the horse they are looking for is healthy and has no health problems and that they are feed right and kept in open areas once in a while. A hesl
